I am following 2MGems (http://www.2mgems.blogspot.com/) and Hands-On Explorer trip blog (http://kidsblogs.nationalgeographic.com/handsonexplorer/) through RSS. I chose 2M Gems because it shows the learning experience of children. This can help me come up with ideas to teach my students as well as well as giving my students a fun resource to learning. I chose Hands-On Explorer because the stories came to life. The pictures and detail of the trips made it so you were almost there. I really liked the story of a forty year old woman who climbed the second tallest mountain without extra oxygen. This shows children that anything is possible. I believe that these two blogs will be a great resource for me to prepare for teaching.
I found so many interesting educational blogs it was hard to choose three to talk about. I chose three of my favorites that really stood out to me. The first blog I found was A Year of Reading (http://readingyear.blogspot.com/.) This blog gave me great ideas to make reading more interesting. It gave good activities like Poetry Friday and listed great books children will enjoy. I love to read so this blog was especially exciting!
The next blog I liked was Weird Science (http://weirdscience.ca/.) The very first post was about spiders. I hate spiders, but as I read I became intrigued by the information they posted. Like, I had no idea that male black widows could sense if a female is hungry. If only my husband could sense that. I liked that they had fun facts like the process of flushing a toilet. I feel my students would have so much fun with this blog. At least the boys will for sure.
The third blog I really liked was The Edublogger (http://theedublogger.com/.)This This blog helped teacher to use technology in teaching. It explained how to use blogs for multiple subjects and classes. I feel this will be a great way to help use technology in my classroom. It also listed classroom blogs. I really like the blog Mrs. Poulin's Blog because it explained the importance of building a community in the classroom. The Edublogger will be a great resource for technology and viewing other educational blogs.
